Some locksmith Rosyth services paint the picture they are a local company, and can deliver an affordable service. However, many of these companies are national firms, running out a call centre somewhere else in Britain.
They create a website targeting a location, and rent a local phone number to complete the illusion.
When they get a job, they pass the work on to a local locksmith, with their middle man fees added on top.
Alcatraz locksmiths is a genuinely local company, based just 7 miles from Rosyth. This can be confirmed by checking out our company, which is registered with Companies house.
This locality means we can drive to any part of Rosyth in around 15 minutes of receiving the call.
Furthermore, because we are a local mobile locksmiths running out a van, we have no expensive overheads such as commercial premises, and utility bills. This means our running costs are low, and the savings can be passed onto the customer.
Our average labour charge for most jobs is just £50 – a fraction of what a national firm would charge!
Locksmiths Rosyth: What we quote is what you pay
Most people will at some point will have dealt with a company who charges over what they originally quoted. This will be for reasons such as ‘unexpected complications’ or ‘more work needed than first thought’. Or it could be down to the add on’s at the end of the job such as VAT or hidden call out charges.
At Alcatraz locksmith we can diagnose any lock issue over the phone and give a no obligation fixed price. This price is what the customer WILL pay at the end of the job – every time. In addition we DO NOT CHARGE CALL OUT FEES or add VAT onto the final bill.
We view customers as friends, who will return if we provide an honest service at a fair price.
Rosyth trusted trader
Finding as local company as described above, may not be enough though. Unfortunately there are still some bad eggs when it comes to local tradesmen. That’s why its always good to do some research before using a firm.
Over many years Alcatraz locksmiths have gathered hundreds of reviews over many platforms like Facebook, Google and yell.
We realise the internet is flooded with fake reviews. However, reviews such as the ones on the trusted trader scheme are all verified by a third party phone call to the customer.
Alcatraz locksmiths have been vetted by police Scotland, the trading standards, and are members of the Edinburgh trusted trader scheme – which covers the areas Rosyth and Dunfermline.
All work is fully insured and comes with a minimum 1 years guarantee – however, we are flexible if problems arise after this period.
Our Rosyth Emergency locksmith, and company owner (Danny) will be on call during the day from 6am till around 9pm. After these hours the phone will be diverted to another locksmith, who will cover during the night, and the weekends.
If for whatever reason the phone is not answered due to holidays or sickness, we recommend finding a locksmith company who is a trusted trader like us. This way you will avoid being exploited by a national firm, or a locksmith who takes advantage of an emergency situation.
UPVC door repairs in Rosyth
UPVC and multi-point door lock repairs are becoming the biggest part of a locksmiths job. This is due to the fact that most house builders are fitting UPVC and composite doors as standard now.
After speaking to thousands of customers over the years, it seems these multi point door mechanisms have an average shelf life of around 10 to 15 years – Some last longer if the are properly aligned in the door frame and are oiled once of twice a year.
When a part does eventually break in the door its not as much of a problem as some people believe. Almost every time its simply a case of taking the barrel out, taking the handles off, taking the metal strip out the door, and replacing the broken component. This type of repair usually only takes around 30 minutes, and costs only a fraction of what you would pay for a new door.
We stock all the major parts in the van to enable us to carry out the repair immediately. If the part in your door is rare of obsolete, we can install an temporary lock till your part arrives or an alternative strip is sourced.
New Lock installations
We supply a very affordable lock changing service which can be done in the same day if required. The cost of this type of job at the time of writing (10/1/2020) costs £50 plus the price of the lock.
As for lock prices, most of our locks range from £15 to £35, and were chosen due to their balance between security and affordability.
For Example if you were to buy an anti snap eurolock from the shops, you could pay up to £60 – depending where you shop. Conversely, you could can buy a budget eurolock for around £10, at places like Screwfix and Homebase.
With the 2 examples above, we would never recommend using the cheap lock. It will not have any anti snap protection (main way thieves open these locks). As for the expensive lock, you can buy one for half that price which delivers the same security specs. For example, the eurolocks we use are £30, they are anti snap, anti drill, anti pick, and come with 5 keys.
